About the City Bridge Park

Our initial idea for Tou Works 1 was a project that related to the highway bridge crossing Pedersgata, called the City Bridge. We often work with neglected or “negative” spaces in the city, and we wanted to do something to the gap between the bridge and the rooftops of the houses, thereby showing the potential in these strange areas of a quickly expanding city.

The project turned out to be impossible to realize within the time limit, and we decided to present the idea in the form of a real-estate advertisement, trying to make use of the lingo and visual language of that genre to sell the concept to a daring investor.

About the Pedistop

The Pedistop is about waiting. In order to turn the waiting into something more active than it usually is, the project has transformed the customer into the stop by wearing a gadget that signals to the driver that a ride is wanted. One is no longer at the mercy of the driver, of timetables or of the seemingly random placement of the stops along the road. With a Pedistop the customers are in charge of their own journey.

The Pedistop is also about our perception of distances and time; Stavanger is a small city, and the distances are relatively short. It is still a city where people use their cars and take a cab over short distances. It might be quicker to walk than to take the car or wait for the cab.

We conducted a survey to find out if there would be a market for a pedicab service in Stavanger. We found out that it did, and presented the results in the Pedistop shop window.
