Elaine Kordys

Elaine Kordys (UK). Her work often responds to sites and community. She works within Live Art using performance, film and installation. Recently her work has been considering the concept of 'saving' in physical, environmental and spiritual terms. In TW1 she will be making walks in Pedersgata and siting an action at Badedammen. She also works with the Night Ravens (akin to Guardian Angels - people walking the streets at night to protect people in the local community) and local life guards, walking the streets in and around Pedersgata.
Since being in Stavanger she has made contact with a number of people living in the street. "I have been drawn by the warmth and support of the residents. Especially in what seems to be challenging times due to the recent rapes and the unstable future of some buildings. The area is under both physical and environmental threat, the spirit however remains hopeful".
Elaine Kordys is an artist who makes both performance and installation work. Her most recent work explore themes such as loss, ritual and honouring mistakes.
She has place her work in theatres, galleries, office spaces, outdoor and in her own home. Kordys has a background as a dancer.
Recently she performed a work during Theatre Bristol's Why Do You Practise On The Outside event, rowing in a boat at Bristol Docks. Her interst in spirituality has led her to walk a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella.
